Getting Closer to History: 5 Places to Visit in Udaipur

Udaipur, a place of royal heritage and one of the most visited cities in Majestic Rajasthan.

Fun Fact: James Bond movie Octopussy was shot here and so was Yeh Jawani hai Diwani.

1. City Palace

This palace is a MUST visit. It was built by Maharaja Udai Singh II of Sisodia Rajput clan in 1553. This palace was built over a period of 400 years!! It is situated on a hilltop giving us a panoramic view of Udaipur.

So, these were some awesome images of City Palace.
Entry for the palace will burn your pockets by Rs. 1000 (including all the tickets and photography permission).

2. Bagore ki Haveli and Lake Pichola

Amir Chand Badwa, the Prime Minister of Mewar, built Bagore ki Haveli in the eighteenth century. It is basically a museum displaying opulence of Mewars.
While strolling in the Haveli, you can also see the private quarters of the royal ladies, their bath rooms, dressing rooms, bed rooms, living rooms, worship rooms and recreation rooms.

3. Monsoon Palace

The Monsoon Palace is also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace. It is named Sajjangarh after Maharana Sajjan Singh (1874–1884) of the Mewar Dynasty, who built it in 1884. The palace offers a panoramic view of the city’s lakes, palaces and surrounding countryside. It was built chiefly to watch the monsoon clouds; hence, appropriately, it is popularly known as Monsoon Palace.

4. Saheliyon ki Bari

This is an interesting place. This place was built because Rani was sad that she was not allowed to go out and enjoy with her friends. So Maharaja built this entire place so that Rani can enjoy!!!!

5. Maharana Pratap Memorial aka Moti Magri

Maharana Pratap Memorial is a historic site that is dedicated to the gallant Maharana Pratap. Situated at the top of Moti Margi or Pearl Hill, the memorial overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake.

So, that was Udaipur from my perspective. There are other places too but above mention places are a must visit…!!!!
Public transport is good. Bargain with auto rickshaws beforehand. Although Udaipur has Ola now!!!!
